@247: Thx for your pointing me to this tagging software. It's just that I'm not gonna use it because I don't want to organize my music, I just want to listen to it without any effort. > i generally...

@michfu: I didn't? I never opened an artist's album list to find the album I was looking for? That's amazing.

i perfectly agree on what michfu is saying. I know some people may find an alphabetical order better but to me is better by year, and that's because i generally know what record is after and what...

@ossi1976 I C. You can talk a lot about a use case you didn't *ever* use yourself. ;)

Maybe it's high time that we close this discussion, and forward a wish to Jolla for an option for a selectable sort order. For me the subject has been answered, even though I don't like the answer :)

@michfu: I'm sorry. Yes, I'm of course being picky, but that's a good thing. We don't discuss here because we want to find out what's good for you or good for me, what you want or what I would prefer....

@ossi1967 sorry, you are being picky about words just to sort out others opinions. Of course I'm not sitting there looking how beautifully the albums line up by date. What an odd assumption. :) Of...

@michfu: Actually no, nobody stated they **find** albums more easily that way. People said things like "logical" and "the natural way of looking at" albums. Albums aren't there to bee looked at, that's...

@ossi1967 to be honest: There are *three* users in this thread telling you, they find albums more easily when sorted by date. What makes this not an answer? So your collection is badly tagged. Period....

@michfu: To be honest, I had asked for a use case that would benefit from sorting albums by date. There was no answer so far. (The use case for sorting by name is that you can more easily find them in...

I think it's clear now, that there are several use cases. It doesn't help repeating the same again and again.

@247: I would (and do) order my albums alphabetically, as I have no idea when the album was released, and frankly don't care! I'm sorry, but for non music buffs, the release date is close to being the...

For me mediaplayer was always far away from perfect. E.g. lacking a decent playlist (or rather queue). IMO mediaplayer is a piece of software, which would greatly profit from being opensource.

@michfu: > I don't get, why albums are sorted by artist, when you browse all of them. You're right, that's another bad design decision. One would expect to see albums per artist in the artist view....

Yes, it should be configurable. There should be even more options: I don't get, why albums are sorted by artist, when you browse all of them.

OK, It may be a feature (I must admit I haden't seen the entry in the release note), but in my eyes it still is an error! For a music enthusiast the release year probably is important, but for the...

@Kim: in that case, your tags are most likely wrong. There are two 'date' tags, namely 'date' and 'originaldate'. It sounds like your 'date' tags should instead be 'originaldate'. To clarify: the...
